Son Lux, We Are Rising
When Ryan came to us to art direct the cover for his new Son Lux album we decided to set ourselves the kinda-ridiculous challenge of doing the entire project—from build-out to photoshoot to final design and layout—in only 28 hours in light of the fact that Ryan wrote and recorded the entire album in just 28 days (as part of NPR’s RPM Challenge in February).
You probably saw some photos of us at the photoshoot on here a couple weeks ago. So this is what we were making. We documented the entire process and we’ll be releasing a crazy video of the whole 28-hour project soon. In the meantime, here’s the final result of all the frenzied work. I think it just might be my favorite thing we’ve made yet. And the album is already hands-down my favorite album of the year. Seriously, it’s good. Check out the Pitchfork article to hear the title track.

Davidthedesigner says of the Qlocktwo, “if all designers had their way, all clocks would look like this”. It is indeed rather lovely. If I had my way though, I’d make a slight improvement: contextual timely reminders.
Saw this maybe a year or two ago…still love it.
